Bursaries and Scholarships

1. MOE Financial Assistance Scheme (MOE FAS)

Students who meet the following criteria may apply for the MOE Financial Assistance Scheme (MOE FAS):

• Student must be a Singapore Citizen

• Family’s Gross Household Income (GHI) not exceeding $4,000.00 monthly

• MOE FAS is automatically granted to students, whose family is under ComCare. They do not need to submit the application for MOE FAS.

  • OR

• Family’s Gross Household Income (GHI) exceeds $4,000.00 but the Per Capita Income (PCI) is $1000.00 or less per month. PCI = monthly GHI/ no. of member in the household

Successful applicants will be granted full waiver of School Fees and Miscellaneous fees, and a bursary of $1,600 per annum inclusive of transport subsidy.

You can apply online. Alternatively, you can download the MOE FAS application form or collect a copy at your child’s school. Submit the completed form directly to the school.

Students with siblings studying in different government and/ or government-aided schools need to submit only 1 application form. The school receiving the application form will process the application and all siblings indicated in the form will be granted the MOE FAS.

2. ASRJC School-Based FAS

The ASRJC School-Based FAS offers financial support to students in need who are not eligible for the MOE Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS). Students may approach the General Office for details and application procedures.

Successful applicants will be granted full waiver of School Fees and Miscellaneous fees, and a bursary of either $650 or $450 per annum inclusive of transport subsidy.

Criteria:

• Gross household income must not exceed $5500 or per capita income < $1375 whichever is lower

Students may apply for ASRJC School-Based FAS online.

3. ASRJC College Advisory Committee Scholarship

ASRJC CAC offers scholarships to outstanding JC1 students. The scholarship, which is tenable for two years, is valued at $1000 per year. Information on the application process will be shared with JC1 students during Orientation.

Application opens in Semester 1 and students will be invited to apply for the scholarship.

Personalised Digital Learning Programme (PDLP)

ASRJC supports PDLP-JC for our students. The devices offered consists of both laptops and ipad. Details of the programme will be shared with JC1 students during Orientation.

MOE Group Personal Accident (GPA) Insurance Plan for Students

Information on claims, FAQs and other details pertaining to the MOE GPA Insurance Plan for students can be found on Income’s website here.

Please submit the claims online here. The electronic submission allows parents/students to check the claims status through the online portal and also expedites the claims processing by Income Insurance Ltd (Income).

Please note the applicable limits and coverage for medical expenses. Ineligible expenses or expenses in excess of the limits will be borne by the students/parents/guardians.

Parents/guardians should also take note that medical treatments at private hospitals will typically cost higher, and parents/guardians may need to pay more out-of-pocket expenses if treatment costs exceed the policy’s coverage limits.

FAQs

• What is counselling?

  • Counselling simply refers to the process of talking to a trained professional in the aim of addressing any social, emotional or psychological issues that a person may have.

• How is counselling done?

  • Counselling is usually done one-to-one in the counselling room. This is done so as to provide a conducive and safe environment for effective counselling to take place. In unique situations, counselling may be done in a group setting. All sessions are kept confidential EXCEPT when there is reason to believe that the client will:

    1. Cause harm to self.

    2. Cause harm to other.

    3. Commit a crime under Singapore Law.

• How long will counselling last?

  • A single session will usually last for about 45 minutes to an hour. The number of sessions will depend on the nature of the issue that is being dealt with. Termination of the sessions can either be initiated by the counsellor or the client.

• Do I need to make an appointment?

  • The counselling service works on an appointment system. An appointment can be made either through SMS or email. The contact info can be found above. Students can also walk-in, although a prior appointment is preferred. In certain cases a teacher may refer a student to the counsellor. In such cases the counsellor will contact the student to arrange for an appointment.

• How long will counselling last?

  • The counselling service in ASRJC is rendered free of charge. In the event that a referral is made to external parties for assessment or related services, the cost involved will be determined solely by the external agencies.
